  • If theyll slab that, then I should have sent them my dipped 1864 L instead of ANACS! Shouldnt that say ORANGE instead of RED?

in me experience, the s-vdb tends to have more yellowish color in it, making it lean closer to orange than "red". is it really worth that in 66 though??? just wondering, because it seems like "reds" are available due to 1st year hoarding of the date. i really don't know, mine's only vf+.

    DK,

These have been listed on fixed price sheets at around $11K for PQ examples from several dealers in the last month...I think that is a bit steep but $9K is not too far out of line if the coin is nice. Of course none of this pricing is related to the actual rarity of this coin in high grade (it is very common for the price it brings). Which leads me to my next thought...

I don't like the looks of this coin...maybe they can't image worth anything but I just made a 65RD that blows this one out of the water IMO. No point spending 66 money on this date unless you get something clearly superior to most 65s on the market and this one doesn't fit that. Wait around and a nicer one will come along (there are sooooo many of these out there). I think if it was really solid the BIN would not be that low either. Of course I could be wrong...it is impossible to be accurate about the look of a coin from the scans.
