Let's see: What have we learned today?

braddickbraddick Posts: 23,970 ✭✭✭✭✭
For starters: I learned that Greg believes that anyone who post under more than ONE identity should be banned by Coin Universe. Of course, this is coming from someone who admitted to me, in person, at the last Long Beach show he has done so- and with more than just two.
Also: Dog97, the one who caused hate and discontent for TBT when he first arrived, accusing him of selling mostly AT junk (when, it was later learned he DIDN'T) but never so much as apologized. Just a casual "whoops-a-daisy" and quickly moved on. (The same individual who makes a sport of finding eBay coin "frauds" yet wrote a PM to me once when I caught my first one, stating there were already too many guys into looking for these fraudulent sellers and to back off. READ: Don't take the wind out of my sails with your own little mini-investigations)

Also: jmwarren- who is so upset (he'll probably never buy another toned coin again! uses foul language to mock anyone and everyone who doesn't agree with him- in other words, behavior he is on a rampage over, he commits.

Believe it or not, CoinDr really is who he is. I could lay it out further with proof (and better proof than the coins offered on eBay were his handywork, now shown to be a false accusation! But, where's the "I was wrong" on that one?!) that we are two people, but who cares? What does he really have to apologize for and to who? You?
So, this is what we learned: sideshows and personalities and anything and EVERYTHING other than coins is what brings the applause! Good for us. Try doing that talking about the merits of your VF20 Seated dollar.

Pat, I think you're okay. I also think Greg and Mr. Warren are okay. I used to even think lw was okay. Yeah, so I'm not very bright. I'm still gonna go on thinking most people here are okay.

I learned little today, although, I was highly entertained. I have learned a great deal about the marketing of toned coins, and that is a good thing.
Oh, I did learn another good thing today. I saw a YN go bonkers, think about it, then return as a gentleman, and apologized. Good job KKid.
I guess I learned a lot today. image

" He who is without sin, cast the first stone." So maybe we all have a little

baggage we carry thru life with us. But on this Forum, for the most part,

we are trying to be better then we are. Lets never stop trying, because these

Forums are important to a lot of very nice people. In addition to coin information

we give solice, help, kindness and a little caring , in a world that can be cold and hard. Bear

I learned nothing here that I didn't already know.

This place is filled with posters with multiple identities. You are one of them.

You are a manipulator with a desire to control everything - but I already knew this about you along time ago.

And let's not forget that there are those less fortunate on this (and many other forums) who, by no fault of their own, are unable to get out and enjoy the other things that life has to offer. That these forums are their only companionship and that WE are their only communicants. We should be thankful we have this forum to express our opinions no matter how diverse they may be. And we should be more tolerant of others opinions and actions.

    Cheers,

    Bob

Oldest trick in the book, try to blame it on somebody else.

<<<Also: Dog97, the one who caused hate and discontent for TBT when he first arrived, accusing him of selling mostly AT junk (when, it was later learned he DIDN'T) but never so much as apologized>>>

I challenge you to pull up a thread to that effect or admit you are a liar!

Why drag TBT into your mess you've created? TBT and I are cool with each other. TBT and myself had a problem one time because somebody in their firm accidently put me on their blocked bidder list. Somebody else posted his blowtorch beauties in ACG slabs and I just commented on them before TBT was even a member here. If I remember correctly that is what made him join the forum.

Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Nothing wrong with a little snit fit once in awhile, but this has gone beyond that. Some very cruel things were said. There are NO sides to this issue. A lot of anger has been vented, some things said that might be very difficult to take back, some respect lost that may never be regained. No winners in this type of atmosphere, time to stop the one upmanship. Let it go before more harm is done.

    Thanks.

I've been on this forum for a while, and I don't usually post to a thread like this.I feel I must on this one.I agree with irishmike's assesment. It is definitely time to stop. Not one of us is perfect by a long shot. There has been enough harm done to some valueable members of this board. This board exists to help us all become better collectors. The information given by all concerned in this mess has been valueable to so many.Let's not change that "FACT" with all of this nonsense.IMHO!!!!!

Man, I just HAD to quote and bookmark this one! I'll find that thread, dog97 and expose you for the fraud you are! Do you promise, on your word, that when it is located and posted, right here, that'll you not come back with some lame, "oh, I must have forgot I had written that". excuse?!

  • I agree with IrishMike. For what my words are worth, I think it`s really time to let this whole matter go. Does Braddick=Coindr ? I have no idea and with the current atmosphere of this forum it wouldn`t be a easy task to descern. I`m welling to give Braddick the benefit of the doubt. Did I say a few things that I regret with coindr? Yes when I over-reacted in the original coindr post this past weekend. I took what he said too personnal. So I had my hand in the " Muck-Rucking". I regret doing it and am sorry to the extent of over-reacting. So with that I`m off to do some coin hunting.

I got an Idea (first one in a while and it really hurt). Why don't we all meet up at the San Jose show, shake hands and laugh about it. Then we can move on and have fun, learn and best of all just put it all behind us.

AgentJim.....ROFLMAO. I can't wait to read Clank's next chapter.image As for the posters and all the posturing, I'll add this, I learn the most when I have to question and defend my own thought process, and generally, the trolls, the split-personality posters, and the provocatures all tend to make me re-examine my opinions and rethink the assumptions I made when I arrived at them the first time. Our opinions are generally more influenced by our adversaries than by "yes men". Now, wasn't the game show called "To tell the truth"? As for Pat, he has always been helpful when I've asked, and has asked some of the most interesting questions. I believe him.

Given the opportunity to reflect upon your statements made in the recent past, you have now said you feel you over-reacted. I commend you for choosing to admit such here. Personally, I hope you and a good number of other Members will remember the Braddick/CoinDr incident the next time you are contemplating an overreaction to someone choosing to disagree with you.

Well, it seems many of you see this "fiasco" as a harmless prank. And of course, I'm sure someone will remind me to take my mindless wimpering elsewhere, or something along those lines. I would just like to point out that for some of us, this forum is our primary means of communication with one another. We have come to meet, know (at least thought we knew), develop respect for each other OR NOT, and maybe based recommendations or come to accept one another's word as being reliable, informative, well researched, etc. etc.

Unfortunately, I've seen some of the brilliant minds withdraw and no longer participate in the forum because of the back and forth nonsensical bantering, predominantly by 2nd or otherwise disguised identities. Yes, I know there are several of you who could care less about who is no longer active, but, it not only is your own loss, but mine too. It's disappointing to find that it is, in part, the result of some whom have been held in high esteem. Yes, there have been legitmate trolls, but, the legitimate trolls haven't been successful in dividing and dissuading the personalities I am referring to.

Yes, I will admit I may have been naive to accept the forum communications as true measures of one's personalities, and yes, I admit I've long ago noted the "turn" of the forum from an "ad hoc" convention of dedicated numismatists into a place where some have chosen to vent their hostilities anonymously, but, I have tried to perservere, and will most likely continue trying.

I only interject these few observations for the benefit of those who may be equally taken aback, or still drop in from time to time, and for those who seem to think that since this is simply an electronic forum, there is no need for decorum. (No, that wasn't an intentional rhyme). Most of us courted an were granted a certain amount of respect when we established our presence in the forum; some of those relationships are predominantly maintained via our presence in this forum, and other electronic forums. We should be mindful that even though we have the ability to be somewhat anonymous, our actions are still attributable to us, even if only to ourselves.

But of course, that all borders on being decent, in the first place.

My comment(s) are directed a no one, in particular, yet everyone.

  • Another big blowup duriing my absence over the weekend. This reminds me a lot of that old chatroom that I used to spend nearly my entire waking hours on. It really got messy before the room turned into a ghost town. As I recall several things happened to "send the chatters away".

    1) A male chatter who was there more than I was accused of impersonating a female user name. This chatter vehemently denied using an alias handle, just many things observed with the female chat handle indicated a very close similarity.
    2) A large influx of very young (teen) chatters. Many of these newbies had the manners of a mosquito. Many came in just to be rude.
    3) People started to talk about others and accuse others of things real and imagined. I think it was so odd that I virtually spoke to one person in that room on a regular basis, yet was supposed to have spoken to many other people according to others.
    4) The chatters started to take sides on a particular argument or event. Unique personalities of each person started to become more clear and in many cases, what you actually found out about a person, turned out to be not as cordial or as nice as you thought.

The Internet provides a cover of anonymity that one can use to protect as well as manipulate. It is something that can be used for good will as well as bad. Having seen a diverse set of personalities in that one chat room, I know that 100% conformity is a ludicrous vision. So to each his own as I observe the din generated by the third planet around the sun.
