My Favorite Card of All Time

Hi Everyone,
After speaking with numerous dealers and collectors. Everyone has his or her own opinion of what the nicest/their favorite card is. Some people base it on monetary value. Some people use an aesthetic value and some people use sentimental value. If it was only based on monetary value, that's easy, Honus. Here is a link to my favorite card of all time. Any card qualifies, (Sport or Non Sport). Something that you can look at over and over and say "wow". Even if the card is worth a penny or a million dollars. I have asked about 50 people so far and have gotten 51 different answers. What's yours, 3 Stooges or Babe Ruth? Since I am a Baseball nut, my choice was easy, but I still do not know who the 2nd player is/was sliding in this card? If anyone know, please let me know.
1953 Bowman Color Pee Wee Reese
Have a great Week,
Mike

hey hey hey
The Honus is a great card and if I had one I would sell it.
Not the Mantle ... that is a keeper.
If anyone out there wants to give one to me, it will be appreciated and given a very nice home
Enjoyed reading through your posts this past weekend. Gotta admint though, even if you're at work, to be able to post stuff and search the internet while you're at work has gotta be nice...
Anyways, favorite card? Well, both posted so far reached Joe Orlando's Top200 (I believe the Williams made it, I'm positive the Reese did)
I'd have to go with one of my favorite (there are so many to pick from!):
1959 Topps #464 Willie Mays 54 Series Catch
That card is a beauty!!! It's cool to be at work and to be able to post and research. Owning your own business and having a T1 line helps a little with that. That Mays card is a beautiful card. I wish I could have seen it live. It was one of the most amazing catches I have ever seen on tape. The best catch I ever saw was a highlight on ESPN about 2 years ago of a Japanese Baseball player leaping on top of the wall and stretching up to catch the ball. That batter was really robbed of a home run. Thanks for showing the card. It is a beauty. I received an email from a friend about 2 weeks ago when I brought up this topic asking me if there was ever a card made from any company, which shows an American Flag. He said that would probably be his favorite. I have never seen one. Anyway, have a great day.
Mike
Is this the kind of card that your friend was looking for?
American Flag
I had remembered that score had an example from the early 90's and found this one listed on ebay.

Wow, you're good. No .. No .. You're Good. (Robert Deniro Impersonation).
I have too much free time on my hands.

He told me he thinks that his original source was Kit Young.
I don't know if any of this is true or not.
The Reese card is why I started collecting cards, and its beauty can't be denied, but I think that giving it too much praise may lead us to overlook the other beautiful cards that exist. It's one beautiful card in a sea of them.

I couldn't agree more with you. I have several. You bought a beauty from me on Ebay about 4 or 5 months ago.
Thanks,

Like everyone else, I have trouble picking any one card. But it's difficult to beat some of the Topps subsets from the late '50's to early 60's, such as:
1959 Thrills #461-470 (Mantle HR, Mays Catch, Kaline Batting Champ, Musial's 3000th Hit, etc.)
1961 Thrills #401-410 (Ruth 60th HR, Larsen Perfect WS Game, Gehrig's Streak, Haddix 12-inning perfecto, etc.)
1961 MVPs #471-486 (first time this was ever done, I believe, but repeated in '75 and other years)
1962 Ruth Story #135-144
World Series subsets 1960, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 67, 68, 69, others?
One card? Not the best looking, but what card has the most Hall of Famer's on it, 100% HOF'ers, with no player pictured that's not in the HOF?
1963 #3-NL HR Leaders (Mays, Aaron, Robinson, Cepeda, Banks).
Another nice one is 1968 Superstars #490-Mantle, Mays, Killebrew.
Any 1953 Topps card
Mays 8
Some have asked to see the backs of these Thrills cards:
Back
1915 Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe Jackson PSA 9
1933 Goudey Babe Ruth PSA 9
1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig PSA 10
1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle PSA 10
1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 10
1952 Topps Willie Mays PSA 10
The men who really own these are gods.
My vote has to go to the 53 Reese. As for the 6 choices Mrichards listed, I vote for the Gehrig card.
I also like the 1950 Bowman. Each card in that set seem to look like a work of art, and in my opinion, more attractive and "artistic" than the 51 and 52 Bowman. I personally don't see how the 52 Topps are more attractive, although the Mantle card is very nice. 53 Bowmans are also very nice.
Another one of my favorites: 67 Topps Tony Perez.
I was gazing at your '53 Reese card, and couldn't help but think what fun it would be to be a ball player in those days.
I know Reese is in a Dodger uniform during a game, but look in the background.....A simple home run fence....a few local advertisements...and NOTHING ELSE!...
This was baseball BEFORE big money.
Great post!!!
My favorite card???......'59 Yogi!
KING KELLOGG
