List your tips in spotting AT'ed coins here.....

Just thought it would be great to compile everyones tricks in spotting AT'ed coins here. + I need the help in spotting them.

    My advice would be to stick to coins with recognizable toning patterns. Like bag, textile, album and tab toning. That's not to say the really talented doctors can't mimic those patterns... but at least they know how to stabilize the coin after they're done (another use for acetone) image

    Kind of like defending yourself against hackers. You'll never be able to stop the good ones, but you can stop all the script kiddies/novices image

    My best advice is to post a pic here and let people pick it apart. They'll usually come to a consensus opinion as to whether or not it's AT.

  • I gather that there's no easy, reliable way to detect an AT without doing a chemical analysis...which means we're all vulnerable! Twowood
