It started when there was about to be a war between Canada and the U.S. in the Open Forum. There was talk of boycotting Canada, and I pointed out that Jayne was Canadian and shouldn't be boycotted. I put her in my sig and people seemed to like her there, so I left it that way.
There sure are a lot here in Minnesota this year! I own a sound and lighting production company here, and have been VERY busy providing production services for the White House as the President has been coming here practically twice a month for a while now. Just in the past three days alone, the President, Vice President and First Lady have come to town. Rudy Guliani is coming tomorrow. We've done the same for Walter Mondale all over the state since Wellstone was killed. Democrats, Republicans, Independants, Greens - they are all dumping lots of bucks here this year, and I'm happy to be the recepient of all of their money! More money, of course, means more coins....

We are finite beings, limited in all our powers, and, hence, our conclusions are not only relative, but they should ever be held subject to correction. Positive assurance is unattainable. The dogmatist is the only one who claims to possess absolute certainty.
I am a hobby collector, have been since I was about 7 or 8 years old. While I have seen a few (very few) nice coins in ACG holders, most are very over graded.
Bikingnut, not only that but when I once had the misfortune to buy an ACG coin, it was a fake. I was fortunate in that I was able to get most of my money back from the dealer.
in the rare instances that acg-holdered coins are misrepresented(happens just as often in pcgs and ngc holders folks), all i can say is that it's the buyer's responsiblity to screen out such things
if you really think about it removed from the influences,,,,,pcgs/ngc propaganda, this ego-riddled board, uptight dealers, the premium you paid for pcgs vs acg in the past..etc...can you honestly say that acg is that far removed from any other grading service?

tomatoerror,
I have never personally purchased a coin in an ACG holder. I usually stick to PCGS and NGC coins. The only reason I have done so is through the advice of a dealer that I respect a great deal. After examining many thousands of slabbed coins I can tell if the coin in the holder is graded correctly. The PCGS and NGC aren't flawless by any means, but they seem to be a little more consistent than the ACG. I don't feel that I am really brainwashed into the choices I make, I just stick to what the market dictates and from my own experience.
One other thing, I became ego-riddled not because of my coin collecting, but because chicks dig me.

I can honestly say their holder stinks How many years does it take to develop a slab where the coin won't rotate and rattle? ugly labels too. I accidentally bought a properly graded ACG MS63 Peruvian Dino off eBay (looked harshly cleaned, was actually heavy die polishing after a couple clashes.) Paid XF money for it... glad I wasn't the seller

Same coins bytheway - I took a better picture than the dealer
Ok tomato guy - you make statements we show you evidence - Yes PCGS and NGC make mistakes, but they're just that - mistakes. The above is not a mistake - it's just one example of very poor, misleading, grading by a company just out to make money off this hobby.
I used to buy ACG MS coins and crack them out and send them off to get regraded. Most of the time they came back 1 point lower from ANACS. That is until I got burned on a couple coins thatv I did not discount enough when purchasing. A MS67 DMPL Morgan that came back MS65 Obv PL and a MS-63 Seated dollar that came back AU details Net EF45 cleaned. It is now apparent to me ACG uses a different scale than PCGS and NGC - is that wrong? When Heritage was slabbing NCI it was about the same wasn't it? I don't see many threads ragging on them.
ck54 - you should check out ebay 2066969358 - I haven't seen her in any films - what would you suggest for someone only willing to buy her best? The attached jayne photo shows what I feel grading companies should use for body bags - well maybe smaller.

Android - you mentioned 'since Wellstone was killed' - do you know something I haven't heard? My paranoid/conspiracy theory neighbor says Bush was involved to get control of the Senate - he was going to vote for Wellstone because he is for the everyday Minnesotan - like us. Or do you mean 'Aviation Charter' being involved with the terrible accident killed him? All I can say is 'ya, u betcha' , what a terrible accidental death.
This is almost a feeding the trolls thread. I cannot believe that anyone truely believes that ACG has any value, other than misleading the uninformed collector (including the hobbyist!).
The number of cases and stories of about this company certainly have provided sufficient information to demonstrate the major risk inherent in any ACG purchase. The amount of misgraded coins in ACG holders is so high that no one in the industry really takes them seriously.
Take you ACG coin to a dealer and see what he will give you for it, then try the same coin and grade in an NGC / PCGS / ANACS holder. The market will tell you. The people will also tell you but then you may claim bias, so let the economics demonstrate the poor value of ACG.

acg has about the same value for me as ngc/pcgs/anacs. they provide a grading opinion that may or may not match mine. statistically though, i likely agree less often w/ acg, but i respect others opinions.

associating acg to the same level as someone responsible for the death of ten million people is absurd. get real.
