The Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention is looking extremely strong and this will be our largest Convention to date. Hope to see you all there.
Starting Wednesday, November 6th, around mid-day, we will have our telephone lines installed at the Convention. Please make a note of these numbers.
Incoming telephone number to Convention: 410-649-7310
Incoming fax number to Convention: 410-649-7311
Host Hotels: If all host hotels are sold out we have a list of 70 more in the area.
Marriott ($109.00) 410-962-0202
Sheraton ($135.00) 410-962-9300
Holiday Inn ($99.00) 410-727-5238
All host hotels are within easy walking distance of the facility.
Our main entrance is at the Northeast corner of the Baltimore Convention Center (Pratt and Charles Street Entrance) Halls A & B.
There are paid parking lots all around the area, and at all major downtown hotels. Any vehicles left in the loading/unloading zone or illegally parked on the streets are subject to ticketing and towing by the Baltimore Police Department.
The Inner Harbor Area of downtown Baltimore has plenty of good places to eat, many historical landmarks, and popular attractions for your enjoyment. Most are within easy walking distance of the facility. The Convention Program will have some of the more popular restaurants listed. If you have a favorite that is not on our list bring us their business card and we will be happy to list it.
The City of Baltimore has done (and continues to do) wonderus things with the downtown Inner Harbor area and there is plenty to do and see. The downtown area of Baltimore is relatively safe, but as with any downtown of a large city, you should use some caution, especially if you are carrying valuables to or from the Convention. DO NOT leave valuables in your vehicles, especially in the open parking lots near the facility. The hotels have a bit more security for vehicles parked there but there is always some potential for problems.
If you are flying into Baltimore there is Light Rail Service from BWI airport that stops right next to the Baltimore Convention Facility (northwest corner). Not sure of the price but it was under $2.00 last time we took it. Some of our attendees stay out by the airport and use the Light Rail service rather than driving in and paying for parking. It is relatively safe, but if you are carrying a lot of
valuables you should consider taking a cab (around $25.00) or driving in.
For those coming into the Convention to view auction lots on Wednesday (1 P.M.) or all day Thursday, please do not go onto the bourse floor. On Wednesday, we will be setting up the room, and moving equipment, tables, cases, etc most of the day (and into the evening). On Thursday, the public is not allowed on the bourse
floor and each auction lot viewer that does not have a photo I. D. will be given a special badge that allows them to go to the auction lot viewing ONLY.
The Convention opens to the public each morning at 10 A.M. and closes at 7 P.M. on Friday and Saturday, 4 P.M. on Sunday. Always FREE ADMISSION.
Please do not forget the kids at Baltimore. If you are attending and would like to donate some numismatic goodies to the Kid's Bucket please stop by the Convention Office. Each youngster, 12 or under, gets a Free Hand Full on Money, each day, and our dealers and guests are very generous. If you have any reference material, larger items, holders, or stuff too big for the bucket we will distribute this material to the youngsters. The convention will also accept
cash donations, all of which will be used to by more stuff for the Kid's bucket.
If your numismatic group, club or organization would like to hold a meeting, lecture, or put out a special exhibit, for our March 14-16, 2003 Convention, or any of our future Conventions, please stop by the Convention Office. We are happy to provide gratis meeting space or table space for Educational activities The Convention Office is right inside the main entrance, next to Security.
