Grading question... PLEASE HELP!!!!
When should you grade a card and what cards should you grade? Should you ever grade commons? Or, just SP, #'d and rookies. Do you ever grade GU stuff? Thanx for any info. If anybody wants to go in on some grading LMK. I think it's cheaper. The more cards you have graded the less you pay. I would love to send some of mine.
I collect Yankees (especially Derek Jeter) and autographed sports memorabilia from any sports. Will pay cash or trade.

Thing is though, I'm too scared to send them through mail and getting a card graded at a show costs about $30.00. maybe i will get cards graded at shows for my expensive cards (like my 96-97 kobe e-x2000 graded gem mint by all star grading)
JoeBenson, How will you sleep at night knowing that your Jordan rookie is somewhere out there in the mail? LOL

First question to ask; Why would i get a card graded?
Is it to increase the value? Not always, some people do it to certify that the card is real, as per PSA or BGS etc.
Also Ask who should i use to grade my cards?
not all grading companies are the same. Most these days are plain garbage and if you use the wrong company to grade your card you will actually loose money. Also of the BIG 3 each is know for a specific type of card.
You need to do a lot or research like learn how grades are determined. Why is a mint card mint and what is o/c or ms, or ST or PD??
You need to learn to be abe to tell if a card is gradable or your just sending a card into waste money and have someone tell you its a '6' and never should have been sent in , in the first place.
However-Generally people send cards in to increase their value for resale. Personally i think its a waste to send a new card in if it wont grade 10, in some cases 9-BUT its a total waste of money to send a new card in and have it graded 8 or 9 with qualifiers.
I suggest you do some research and learn the tricks, like some people will ONLY get cards graded at shows as they believe the companies tend to give better grades then-so the $30.00 is worth it
Hope some of this helped
