Much of this collection was bought through Eagle Eye. Much of it is photo sealed. The owner is a very astute buyer. I doubt if any coin in the set could be called substandard.

Rick Does PCGS actually use the red designation on copper nickel proofs? (1860 PR 66 RD CAM) I have actually seen a few that looked like they were struck in bronze and deserved the red designation but I have never seen the designation on a CN slab. I can't wait to view the indian cent lots at FUN. What an amazing opportunity!image

Thanks for the heads up Rick. I can't wait to get a gander at them. Looks like we have a large contingent heading to the show.

    Rick

Is anyone with money collecting proof Indian cents? To the best of my knowledge Newmismatist put this collection together within the last two years. Will you be stepping up to the plate and buying many of these proofs or are you going to let them fall through the cracks. The market is being tested!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope someone like Trade Dollar Nut will start collecting Proof Indian cents unless he's already been there done that

I would like to hear from you regarding the abundance of Proof Indian Cents being auctioned at FUN

Just a thought, with so many going up for auction at the same time, do you guys think that this will raise or lower bids?

Good question Mike. Timing is everything and the Gorrell sale may have influenced the owner of this set to consign to FUN. The June Long Beach sale seemed to attract consignments in the same way. As a result some coins blew the roof off while others, like the Dr. Gary Lattemer collection, were overlooked and probably would have done better on their own. I guess there's a line between highly publicized and oversaturated, but the FUN sale doesn't seem to be close to that -- yet!

Unless he puts his name out there, which he might, I shouldn't say what his name is.

Proof Indians tend to have a lesser following than MS pieces. Nice coins bring nice money though. I think the Newmismatist coins will overshadow many of the Gorrell coins. Oppertunities will abound.

I think the RD designation on the CN was a mistake.

we'll also get a good idea of what the CAM designation really brings.
