Yes. There are 44 different VAMs for that model, most of them having doubling in the date.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Heres some more pics.
Can you please help me identify the VAM.

  • Mike,
The coin pictured has a small o mint mark, this will narrow your search to a C3a reverse. The reverse doubling looks like classic machine doubling. Hope this helps.

    It has a doubled 1 so that narrows it down to VAM 4, 10, 11,12, 18, 19, 23, 29, 32, 34, 36, 38, 39, 41, & 44.
    The 1st & 2nd 8 is doubled so that narrows it down to VAM 4, 10, 12, 18, 19, 23, 29, 32, 34, 36, 38, 39, 41, & 44.
    The 0 looks doubled @ top left outside so that leaves: VAM 12, 23, 32, 36, 38, & 41.
Need to break it down more. The 1 is doubled on the right side leaving VAM 12 which also has second 8 doubled at lower left outside of upper loop. 0 is doubled @ top left & top right outside & top left of opening.
So VAM 12 is the nearest match but don't write VAM 12 on the 2x2 holder cause I said so because I may not be seeing your scan right and there have been a thousand or so new VAM # added, deleted, upgraded & changed since the VAM book was printed although a quick reference on the relatively up to date vam site shows no major changes that may apply to a doubled date 80-O.

Gilbert is the board VAM man, he needs to verify all this.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Thank you for the great info.
    Mike
