Why are some 1980's Prestige set book values so low?

Examples...
1984s $59 issue, $22 book
1986s $48.50 issue, $34 book
& others...

Is it simply supply & demand?

It's the "hunt" that makes this such a great hobby...

It is primarily supply and demand, but no doubt the total value of the coins is a factor.
A few people do collect sets by packaging types but not enough to keep the price up.

  • It is not supply and demand!

The real reason is that I bought them at
issue price. My stock trade goes into the
    dump even faster.image
  • I have picked these up over the last year or so, as I could find them. I bought the last one to complete my collection - the 1997 set - a few days ago for $120.00.

Five months ago - it was $200.00.
