He is overrated. Glenn Robinson has been putting up big numbers, yet no one speaks about him. I think he had 34 points in the last game and the high 20's in the first game. I was at the movies, so I miss all the games today. But by what I see, Kobe had a great game, but that doesn't make him the next Jordan (as you Kobe fans believe).
  • he may not be there yet but he looks to be on the right path
  • Yea and did you guys almost forget............Garnett was gaurding tmac...........and some guy named WANG was gaurding kobe. Lakers played the Clippers and the Magic played the T-wolves.

  • i hope your not talking about Wang, the guy who played with Dallas last year..he only played about 2 mins last night and he never guarded Kobe.. the guys a center
  • I never argued that Kobe isn't a great player, I just think nikobe is a tool.

  • check out the lakers record.

    S C O R E B O A R D !!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what it is all about. What does Kobe do without Shaq? So far, he doesn't win much. We will see. But it is all about scoreboard.

  • nowitzki, i think everyone here agrees with you that kobe and the lakers need shaq..theres no ? about that.. but some people here have basically made the point that kobe is nothing without shaq and that kobe needs shaq to succeed as a player in the nba and i think he's proven thats not totally true
  • i think kobe is a great player, and not overrated, but nikobe is a horse's arse...
  • Well, I think kobe is only slightly better than Michael Finley in his heyday. Put kobe on the dallas team that finley use to have to play with, and the record doesn't change that much. Put Shaq on that same team and you might have a contender.

Shaq and Kobe are on two different levels. The same way Kobe and the Jordan of old are on two different levels.

Argue if you must. Kobe still has something to prove to me. Although I think, he has plenty of time to prove it.

  • slightly ? well i've seen finley play back when he was with phoenix so i dont know what you mean by his heyday but i'd say his prime has been the last few years up till now and i can't say i've seen finley at any time be the playmaker, rebounder or defender that kobe has showed he is. but thats your opinion and i respect it
  • finley did play for a team between the suns and the past few years with the mavs.

It was the first few years with the mavs that he had nobody around him. He was the only player on the team and he did make plays. Scoreboard again. Mavs were consistant losers but he did make plays and averaged 20+ points a game.

Read the statement I made. I did not say Finley and Kobe were the same. I feel kobe is better than the Finley of old. But he would not make much more of a difference with the mavs team of those years. Shaq would have made a difference. Put shaq in the same level as Jordan, but I don't believe you can put kobe in the same level, yet.

  • i agree.. shaq would make a huge difference on any team he plays for..the guy is soooooo much better than any player at his position it's not even funny. kobe is getting better every year and he's only 24.. mj didn't win his first title untill he was 28 so he still has many years to improve his overall game
  • I think Kobe is a great player who can fill up a box score in many ways, one of the top 3-4 in the league, just like Scottie Pippen in his prime. And just like Pippen he obiously benefits greatly from playing on the same team as the game's most dominant player. That's not a knock on Kobe, the guy can play but he isn't Jesus like nikobe thinks.
