Follow-up on ChooChoo Coins...

Well, as far as I'm concerned, they've more than made up for misplacing my shipment. I contacted them and spoke with the owner, Lewis, and he explained that a couple of his folks that handle all the eBay and computer stuff had walked out...no notice which made it very difficult as he stated that he is not very computer literate. He's been spending the last month trying to catch up and was sincere in his apology. He was very understanding and pleasant to talk to.

While he couldn't guarantee that he would be able to locate my particular coin (PCGS Dime Sample in old rattler) he would make amends with something he knew I would like.

It came today. A 1921 BU Morgan that is an absolute blazer. Full hairline above the ear, totally full-strike, absolutely stunning and bright white. Now I know to all you major collectors that a common-date Morgan would invoke a yawn-fest, but this is the first full-strike Morgan I'VE ever seen and quite a replacement for a $5.00 coin.

I held off leaving bad FB on him on the off-chance that something was genuinely wrong. Since my contacting him he has hired another person to handle his e-mail and other computer stuff and she has contacted me twice to ensure that all was well.

I'm glad I waited. Now, on to post his FB.

Cheers,

Bob

Your story is so reflective of my experience on Ebay. The vast, vast, vast majority of Ebay sellers will work with you to make the transaction good after it has gone sour, if a buyer will just communicate with them. When something goes wrong in a transaction, both parties need to try and see the other party's position as well as their own. Then both parties can work to find common ground without one party feeling they got the short end of the stick. Unusual circumstances, like your seller's Ebay help walking out, are usually the root cause of the deal going bad.

I'm really glad you kept a cool head, called the owner to work things out and withheld your Feedback until you knew the end result of the transaction. Really glad to hear you received a nice coin you find a more than adequate replacement for your intended puchase!!

You're absolutely right. This guy's FB rating was what I consider really good. When, all of a sudden, you see a rash of negs and they're all for the same reason, you have to know that something must have happened to cause it. Patience won out in this instance.

Glad it worked out for you, but he did he share with you why his employees, suddenly walked out on him? Wonder what that says.

Apparently, the two were overwhelmed with the work they had to do and were falling behind. Rather than work harder they quit.

Sounds like all worked out well for you. Your patience paid off. It's nice to see that you didn't jump all over the seller with a negative for a $5 item, and waited for a response. Good for you.

Hey that's cool that it worked out. He had a whole boatload of Sample Slabs listed a while back that I wanted but I never bid on any because people were saying they were scammers.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

I recently had a person send me a bad check from an ebay sale. I contacted the person and they claimed it was bank error and promptly sent me a money order for the amount of the check plus the bank fees. Most people are honest and will do what they need to do. I am glad your issue worked out to the best; however, it does not suprize me that you were taken care of. image

  • Kind of a shame that a thread about a transaction gone sour, then through patience and goodwill on the part of both parties turns out good, only draws 8 or 9 posts over a 2 day time frame.

Yet, when someone complains about a seller and makes more of a very minor detail than it warrants, then 50 or 60 posts will pile on!

In 3500+ completed transactions I have had two checks bounce. The buyers made good on both of them, covering bank fees as well. I could wallpaper a good size bedroom wall with all the bad check I received when I was in a brick and mortar location. The key to success on eBay is based on three things: communication, communication, communication image

    DCAM,

I agree, it is sad. People are all too ready to criticize but slow on giving credit where credit is due.
