My original coin collection from when I was 14 years old!!!!! I thought I had everything, but could never remember exactly. He found my old briefcase (yes, I had a briefcase full of coins when I was 14) filled with paperwork, inventory sheets (very crude), and assorted paperwork from Bowers, N.E. Rare Coin Galleries and Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange, to name a few.
There was all the original paperwork from the coin club I had participated in starting, and copies of the first three newsletters. Kind of funny actually, but pretty good for a few early teens.
A few tidbits: The 1982 Bay State coin show review....."A Unique rarity was seen. A 1909-s vdb ms/65 Doubled Die, 1-3 known in this condition. An 1879 $4 Stella gold piece was also seen, with a value of over $50k. The famous 1914-d Lincoln cent was found in ms/67. Gold coins were everywhere, as well as Morgan dollars in Uncirculated condition."
Seems we were fascinated with the amount of gold and unc. Morgans present at the show. I do remember when we attended Bay State for the first time, we were both blown away, my friend and I. A couple of 14 year old young collectors thinking we could conquer the Numismatic world
Our first Newsletter had a section on market speculation, and the Salem Numismatic Association (SNA), highly recommended purchasing copper/nickel indian head cents. I think we were actually on to something there.......
We would set meetings up at the local library (I have clippings of our meeting postings in the local paper) and just sit and talk coin stuff. There was only 5 of us I think, maybe a few more, can't quite remember.
The biggest surprise for me, was the plethora of DARKSIDE material I collected. What in the world was I thinking? Maybe I was ahead of my time. Anyway, I'm going to need some assistance with the Darkside material. I will solicit some help from some of the board members.
Just thought I'd toss this up here. If I find anything else interesting I'll post that too. I have just started brisking through this stuff.
It's funny how looking over this stuff can make you smile.

I'd love to experience that, but didn't collect coins when I was a pup, so that's an experience that won't happen for me.
Pretty happy for YOU though!
card collection too.
