You know you've arrived when other Sellers on eBay use your NAME to headlight one of their auctions!
I wouldn't know whether to be complimented or wanting a cut of the profit!

<< <i>This coin is graded MS63 by PCI. They've gotten quite tough lately >>

    Any truth to that assertion?

Actually, at the risk of being totally flamed, yes. But, I write that with hesitation. Who is to say it is long lasting? No consistency there and no way of determining, outside of looking at each coin, if it's graded out right or not (ie: they didn't change their holder insert). But, to answer your question- I have heard some scuttle that PCI decided, internally, they would tighten up to try and end the bad press.

That coin doesn't really look like much to me or anything special, and I'd be upset if someone used my Ebay handle in conjunction with a piece like that and compared it to mine.

  • I bought a PCI Morgan last year in a 65 holder. I sold it in the PCI holder. The buyer broke it out and sent it in to PCGS and it came back a 67

(I'm on the verge of buying an 1892 Barber Qtr in PCGS Proof 68DCAM.....cool eh? Today I bought a 1905 Double Eagle in a PCGS MS64 holder. Please don't flame me - I'm just sharing. I like coins too....)

  • anaconda,

    why would be flamed?
  • "Anaconda doesn't have anything useful to say, he just comes in here to hawk his wares"

Other comments like that. I've been criticized for putting "anaconda" in the message line.

It's like PCI's designation "PQ" on the holder image

Adrian - Your a smart guy, and a lot of us enjoy hearing what

you have to say. There could be a few who would flame you,

but when they shave in the morning, they dont even like

who they see in the mirror. Everything will be fine , as long as you dont decide to have

    bear for supper.

Hmm I wonder if Anaconda can copyright the name as it relates to a monster-toned coin. Worth looking into. Reminds me of Pat Reilly copywriting "3-peat" after the Lakers won their 3'rd consecutive championship.

Would that make the initials A.T.?

OK that makes me jealous, my 1892 is a miserable PCGS PR66DCAM.image

    Anaconda,

IMO, along with the 1902-P, the 1905-P $20.00 is an extremely underrated date in anything above MS62 and a real keeper. I don't know if true gems of either date even exist. Nice find!

at 1 point in their history pci was prone to heavily undergrading early material in circulated grades, say around "fine", especially draped-bust. i've cherry picked at least a handful of coins that i probably paid half-price or less for.
