Common. Original mintage of 9,000,000+. QDB estimates that there are greater than 50,000 surviving above VF. Bids for commom values in the greysheet.

Sounds like it would qualify as an R1

There is some interest in the micro-s 1877-S, but most are the large-S (like Breen 5810). The doubled-die obverse is thought to be quite rare. Look for the doubling around Liberty's hand. There are a few doubled-die reverses known, but the ones with the minor doubling don't command a premium.
