What are the points to look for when looking at a 1926 in Ms65.
I think these are great looking coins but I am new to classic coms.

Great question! I do not have the answer but I am interested in the replies. I have only one. 1937D Oregon, NCS ms64. I really, really like the coin. Seems to me to be very well struck and I love the subject!

I will be very interested to learn from the more experienced on here!! Thanks for bringing this up.

I don't know a lot about this series but I do know occationally (I don't know how often...this might not be a problem) an Oregon Commem will be weakly stuck. I've seen a few that have a weak area on the back entrance of the wagon that is mushy.

Again, I don't know if this is a common occurance but I've seen it...

Vam44 showed me a Oregon at last weekend's show that was a "Whoa, let me get my sunglasses" blazer. It was a raw 64 or 65 if I recall and just a beautiful coin. Probably dipped once but it sure didn't hurt. I think they can look attractive in even a moderate Unc grade because there isn't much empty space and light surface marks can blend in with the design elements.

He told me at the time to look at the knee (like on the Standing Liberty quarters) for rub and marks.

This is by far the most awesome coin every produced in America. If it's well struck (most all are) with nice luster and few marks then you need to look for no more except a reasonable price. I sold a 1937 in MS67 recently for 380.
