  • His secret is "uneducated" collectors who probably feel if the coin is slabbed, then it is correctly graded and perhaps are also unaware of how really devauled a coin is when it suffers from corrosion, damage, ect. That coin is NOT worth VG money- it is worth AG money, if even that IMO.

  • If you feel his prices are too high, then you definitely should not bid on his auction(s). I feel the prices at Nieman-Marcus are way too high, so I don't shop in their stores. I have found their S&H prices to be higher than average. However, if he is large enough to hire someone to package his coins and then take them to the Post Office, then I can sure understand his S&H pricing. After you pay the person's salary, worker's compensation, Social Security & Medicare payroll tax, unemployment insurance, Medical Insurance and any other benefits, then you have spent some real money.

The man has 9,418 Positive comments to his Feedback. 24 Negatives doesn't seem too very high. There are so many nutcases out there, you can't avoid those from time to time. Just look at the idiot with a Feedback rating of -4 and NARU'd that left him 2 Neutrals in the past week.
  • I bought a couple of NGC-slabbed Kennedys from them. Shipping was a bit high, but they did combine it, which saved a few dollars.
I can't complain. I got the coins I wanted, for the price I was willing to pay, and they arrived safely and well-packaged.

  • Having sold slabbed coins myself I know about the conundrum. Do you put the slab in a bubble mailer and risk a cracked slab or do you put it into a box such as a Priority "VHS" size box that offers cushioning room. Priority mail $3.85 and Ins. for $300 adds up to $8.05 . Priority boxes are free which is a big part of their appeal, but, add the cost of packing (paenuts or bubble wrap), tape (non-Priority), and gas, etc... and $8.50 is a realistic cost. Is it competitive? That's a whole another story. I would charge $5.85 Priority and eat the rest for a $300 coin.

I don't think 24 neg FB's out of over 9,000 is too bad. I've purchased from this seller before. Got a few coins at very fair prices. Don't understand how the prices suddenly have become inflated. Maybe they're just having a good run of uneducated buyers?

BTW...$100 over list and zero bidders should tell you somethingimage

On the surface, it's easy to assume he overcharges for shipping. In reality, he charges very close to cost because he ships everything boxed and priority mail insured. He might make a dollar or two profit. He also ships faster than any seller I've ever dealt with. I've frequently gotten my coins so fast that I believe he must have shipped before actually receiving my check.

Does he price some of his material higher than market? Yes, but nobody twists anybody's arm to buy it.

This is an excellent seller that I do business with without hesitation.

  • I just factor shipping costs into my bid for the coin. I determine the maximum I want to pay which includes shipping and bid accordingly. I have done business with the seller before with no problems.

I do not buy from him because he sells things in the wrong categories. Jeez, I just wish he would stop putting PCGS boxes for sale everywhere. Because of him I have to have "-boxes" in eerone of my searches

His neg/total feedback ratio is like .0025. Not bad, I have purchased several coins from them. Even an off ebay deal. Never had a problem, and have gotten nice coins. I would not hesitate to buy from this seller again if he had a coin I wanted. mdwoods

Looks like an excellent feedback rating to me. And a $300 coin costs about $5.50 to mail insured. That figure does not include the cost of the packaging and the wages paid to the person doing the shipping. And with over 9,000 feedbacks registered (including at least half of those from repeat customers), I'd say some people don't find his pricing too high.
