What is the best way to scan in pictures of your cards?

Before asking one of the IT people at my company, I wanted to ask people the process by which they scan in pictures of their cards because I have been trying and it seems that although I can get the pictures uploaded they turn out to be giant when clicked on (try looking in my 70 or 71 set for an example) rather than the more user friendly and better looking scans that others are putting up.
Thanks for the help in advance

Collector of baseball PSA sets from the 1970's & hockey rookie cards; big New York Rangers fan (particularly now that they are sleeping with the enemy with Holik and Kaspiritus). Also starting to collect 53 Bowman Color as I think they are the most beautiful cards I have seen.

I think the best size for scans on eBay is about 100 dpi, because you can see the card pretty clearly and it doesn't take forever to download. I think smaller would be bad, but a little bigger might be good. 200 dpi is too much I think.
I would not use a photo program to reduce the size, because that seems to make the image blurrier than just re-scanning with fewer dpi, and it's an extra step that's painful to have to do. If you are doing one scan, maybe it's not that big a deal, but if you have to do a whole bunch, it will take a long time.
