Hey Russ, look what I found!!!

Just got back from a business trip, and was going through the mail. Got some proof sets in and opened them up. Look what I found.

I know it's only an accent hair, but it's the first I have found in a sealed proof set. The first difference I noticed was the color of the envelope. It was the same color as the 63 proof set. A darker color than the other 64s I have. Have you noticed that on the AHs you have found???

Thanks
Marty

Marty, I noticed on the one 1964 Proof set I found with an AH half definitely looked different than the others I have without the AH half. That seems like a pretty good diagnostic feature.

Not the coin, but the envelope! It was darker than the other 1964 envelopes.

Agree, envelope is different with my AH versus the non AH.
  • Nice snag, Marty! image

Even through the plastic, that puppy is going to be a nice coin!
so - you're just going to send it out to me right? Russ already has too many. image

Actually the last batch I snagged 2 AHs, 3 CAM/DCAM Nickels, 5 CAM/.DCAM Lincolns and 5 CAM/DCAM Quarters. Time for another PCGS order...image

    Marty,

Out of about 250 "unopened" proof sets, I've found a grand total of four Accented Hairs. One was in a batch of 20, the other three were in a batch of three. I've gotten most of my AH's (I have 29 now) from opened sets where the dealer posted a scan, or was selling pointed nine dime sets, but didn't know what he had.image
