Opinions on Global Certified InfoSlabs????

I searched the forum threads but didn't see any comments on this service. Anyone had any experience with them? It seems like a nice concept, especially for older, classic coins.

As far as I am concerned, it's only PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG now. All the other services, new and old, can take a flying leap.

They started up about 6 months ago.

They're holders are wider and have a little story next to the coin. I had got a $2.50 Indian in one and the grade was listed as "AU".

Until they learn to put a number on there, Global is destined for the has-been pile.

  • I got my first sample holder from Global in Sept of 2001, they actually started operations in November of 2001 so they have been around for almost a year. They seem to be very uneven in their operations. Sometimes the grades have numbers and sometimes not, they seem to produce a lot more "novelty" type slabs where the picture on the slab ISN'T a picture of the coin than standard slabs with pictures of the coin, and they don't seem to be succeeding at the main objective they had when they started which was to be able to excell at varieties because they could show an enlargement of the coin with an even more greatly enlarged inset photo of the major diagnostic point that confims the variety. I think that should be the niche market they could dominate but they will have to get out more at shows and I think they should distribute sample slabs that all contain a variety (1960-D cents with RPM's would be good for this) that will clearly show in the inset photo.

Conder101- I've used Global. They offer two types of services (including levels of each that offer quicker turn-a-round times at a great cost).
One, lower price service uses a stock photo in place of a real photo of your coin/token.

I like them because they will slab "novelty" coins/reproductions that others won't touch.
I have a "PR70DCAM '1964' Peace dollar reproduction that really is a nice display item.

I wouldn't use them for anything serious, but do feel they serve a purpose- for some.
Oh, they also offer promotional slabbing. For example you can have your company logo inserted on the photo side and say, your state quarter on the other side.
In groups of 100 or more the prices come down remarkably.
    -I hope this information helps.
