  • I'm guessing you'll find them in the looney bin.

And if they're not there already, we'll know who we need to send there.

    ^_^
  • MS kennedys are my main set right now - collecting it in MS66. I'm just under 50 % and have a goal of 50 % by the end of the year. I'm not a big fish in the pond image but I have enjoyed collecting this set so far. See my sig line for my sets.

  • by "biggest" do you mean biggest round the waist, tallest, or the one with the largest ego? Everybody knows the most vocal Kennedy nut on this forum is Russ. I dont know if he is the "biggest".

6'5"image Not biggest around, though, at 175lbs.

Both PhillyJoe and Osiris have more slabbed Kennedy halves than I do (I think). And, there are lots of people here that have been collecting them much, much longer than I.

Russ still gets my vote because he is a student of his halves and a teacher for others interested in the topic. He has been a staunch defender of the Kennedy half as a worthy collectible. Put it all together and Russ has defined "collector" as it relates to the Kennedy.
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

When it comes to proofs, Russ is the guy I turn to. I respect his opinion and value his judgement. I have a favorite niche within the Kennedy proofs and so does he. His enthusiasm for the hobby is unlimited. We sometimes see the same coin and I'll ask what he thinks. He also has the most complete 3D Kennedy collection I know of. When he's not sniping Kennedys and something called "two cents" he builds little computers in the back of his coin shoppe/photography studio and welds angle iron. All around good guy. image

    BWAH! LMAO - not. imageimage

Yeah, the welding was Dan's thing. I did the bolting.image

    Russ, NCNE
  • Actually - he's quite capable of welding, just doesn't have the equipment.

I suspect as quick a study as Russ is, if I allowed him to use my MIG welder - he'd rapidy eclipse my welding abilities. (such as they are) In fact, the mental image of him under a welding hood is so compelling - I may just do that for giggles. image
  • I may not be as vocal as Russ, but I am big into the Kennedy's also.
    Let me count the ways...
Full Set of NGC Proofs in 68, 69 and 70
Full Set of Proofs and Uncirculated, Select Gem BU and Proof in Eagle brand holders and albumn.
    Various PCGS Proofs
Loads of spare raw coins and rolls.

I guess you can say, I like them too! image

    That's a mighty pretty half.image

  • I don't really know anything about toning, but that 3rd picture looks remarkably like a dime I blasted with my oxy-acetylene torch with a reducing flame... image

Is it naturally toned, and I've just offended you? image
  • mrpaseomrpaseo Posts: 4,753 ✭✭✭
Yes, AT it is....Hope this does not offend any of you....If you want, I will take the AT off, I have a large pink erraser that should do the trick.

It's an interesting AT job in that it actually looks like a natural progression of the toning on a 1971 PCGS slabbed PR67 that I sold a while back.

    imageimage

See the similarities; particularly the reverse?

    Russ, NCNE
  • Pretty Kennedy!

I'd like to think I'm a pretty good Kennedy Head!

    I hope it's not proof.

It's a pretty good AT job!

    Rusty.
