NUTS! No, not the Barbara Streisand movie... an eBay auction gone over the top.

A common circulated raw Bust 50C, with a "compelling eBay story (not as good though as the crazy old lady), went for over $600 in hot bidding.
WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS??

Can you explain this to me?
Part of it may be the (false) assumption that the other bidders know what they are doing.

Gurrrr, you beat me to it
Well - I guess some folks were willing to take a risk hoping that this would be the genuine article - I actually pondered - but I have bigger fish to worry about. Just goes to show you that there's always someone in the hobby wanting to go for the big kill.

It's a great coin that I'm sure will also holder out.
In my communications with the seller he strikes me as honest.
If he says that half came out of a coffee can, I believe him.

I guess the bottom line is it's better to trust too much and occassionally get burned than to go through life not trusting at all.
Until someone really hurts me, I try to believe in them.
Every coin I've received has turned out great!
In fact, his SCANS do run real dark, not showing the luster. The luster is all there and the colors, especially the GREEN and Burgandy rims on the reverse is all there.
Sometimes it's more fun to buy these raw (I know that's risky) and "make your own" by sending them in rather than try to locate these already graded out at a much higher pricetag.
