Just got the Bowers and Merena Catalog for the Baltimore Show

And it is awesome! 632 pages chuck full of everything from colonials to currency. There are tons of eye catching rarities so you guys that are going to the show should have a blast! Wish I could go! For you token collectors there are a good number of hard times tokens pictured as well. One of the most eye popping items were 3 original - unopened $1000 dollar bags of silver dollars - One is a bag of 1883-O dollars, two are 1887P dollars - my, my, what fun it would be to open these bad boys for the first time!

We expect lots of reports from the trenches - and pictures whenever possible! ENJOY!

Frank, I just got mine today also! In fact it's sitting next to me right now. I have placed some bids already. If there is anybody here not getting thier really nice color catalogs you are missing something really good. I place a bid every auction and they keep sending me the next catalog. Mike image
  • Darn catalogue is so big that it didn't fit into the envelope! Mine had rubberbands around it and a sticker from the post office saying it arrived at the post office open - in other words they didn't open it!
    ahhhh....... SODO MELVIN?????
  • Neat stuff!! I always have wanted to open a bag of Morgans too. I think it would probably be diappointing from a quality perpective, although you never know, but it sure would be a blast!!

it's going to take hours and hours to go through this thing. truly an awesome offering. It seems that anything you could possibly be looking for, numismatically, is in this catalog somewhere.

    however.....

the morgan bags are not unopened, they have been gone through and the coins, which have been rolled, are speculated as grading on average from ms 60-64.

    edited to add p.s.

check out the platinum pattern 1814 half dollar on page 289

    yeooooooow
  • How would I procure a catologue? No doubt the majority of the coins are way out of my league, but it would be fun to flip through and drool some.

Max- go to the top of this page and click on the B&M link. Go to the auction and place a bid and they will send you a catalog( if you are interested in a catalog only place a very low bid that you know will not win the coin or you can buy the catalogs. Mike

  • Yeah Zenny: I saw the description of the Morgan bags after I logged off last night and was actually kinda dissapointed - even thought there isn't a chance in hell that I would get such a thing, but still - it would be fun to go through and see how thoroughly they pillaged the bags.

Unfortunately for me, the coins that I need for my collection are the finest or second finest known, so I can't afford them. Check out the Sierra Leone proof set in the world coin section. AWESOME! (and I don't even collect proofs)
