Lowest grade clad coin you've seen?

krankykranky Posts: 8,709 ✭✭✭
By chance I got three 1960s vintage quarters in change today (clad, of course), and the worst one was probably VG. Durable little buggers!

Has anyone seen a clad coin worn down to Fair? They have been in heavy circulation (the dimes and quarters, anyway) for close to 40 years.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I actually have a collection of these. Most are in good, but several of the early ones
are AG and the '66 is close to FAIR. No damaged or corroded coins are included in the
set or some would grade lower.

  • I always get a kick out of seeing these three dates (65,66,67,) in my change as they still do look in pretty good shape for as Kranky says they are durable for a coin almost 40 years old.
