This is why I collect album IHC's

This is one of many IHC's I have purchased recently at a small local coin show. You can see the green intercept album surrounding the coin in the picture. Look at the neat die crack running from from the first T in States over the A to the second T. Also note what is going on with the rim at one o'clock. Digital imaging has rekindled my interest in completing this, my second album.

Edited, it has that original color with great luster.

I think you're seeing the curviture of the date to the field next to the bevel of the date...looks like a normal one to me....and a very NICE one at that.

<< <i>You can also see why graders use halogen lighting, notice the hit over the nose is more pronounced under halogen. >>
The hit is virtually invisible in the first scan, so I see you point. Even though that is a pretty good hit on the nose, the coin looks to be pretty flawless otherwise. A nice coin and one I wouldn't mind adding to my collection.

The thing I like about the photographic aspect is it increases the enjoyment of ones collection between purchases and it makes it easier to share it with others. Glad to see your getting into it.
Nice coin and great images.
The 1863 total die count is unknown, but they must have been severly overused with all the cracks and cuds that show up. The cracks usually appear on the reverse like this example Sadysta1 found on Yahoo. Looks like the last coin this die managed to press:
