How to display our cards...

Reading through some of the recent posts, I've come to wonder, how do other people display their collections in their homes. As a set collector, rarely do I get the chance to show people (and let them appreciate) a complete set of 1950 Bowman baseball cards.

However, most people get a kick out of seeing the 5-10 cards I have 'propped' up on stands throughout my office at home.

Any ideas? Photos?

One of the greatest things I ever got off ebay was a huge lithograph of Mays' catch in the 54 series. It beats the little 59T Thrills card I have of him doing the same thing. (though I still love that subset of cards from 59!)

I have my PSA graded Rose cards on my wall. They are in a Pennzoni product I got on eBay for 50 I think. It is pretty nice, holds 55 PSA cards.

I am really looking into this for PSA cards, but want some feedback first. Has anyone used these????

  • Wow, when I did a search on eBay for a Pennzoni product, I came across a site for wall displays:

Very nice. I wonder how nice the wood finish is... and if it's safe to hang up...
  • I actually use a Pennzoni display to display my favorite 50 1965 topps cards plus another for my psa 10 1974's. If you're looking for a higher end quality product then you probably don't want to buy it but it probably is the best available display out there right now. At the nationals I spoke with MJ Roop Archivers about the need for quality wall display systems for graded cards and he is looking into developing a very high end system for graded sets. I can't wait to see what he comes up with as I feel there is a definite need. I wouldn't mind spending a decent amount of money to be able display my cards in something other than those black psa boxes.

I've considered hiring a trim carpenter to come into my home and build a wall system with uv glass panels that would close and lock to display my 65 collection. I know it wouldn't stop a thief but it would stop my kid's friends from playing with them. If I knew how to load a picture on here I would take 1 and load it. Hope this helps and I will make a post later if Roop comes up with anything.

I have 4 of the Pennzoni cases in my game room. 3 for graded cards and 1 for ungraded. They are extremely functional and do the task, but that is it. They are fairly simple and not all that aesthetically appealing.

The 55 card 1977 cloth sticker set will fit perfectly in this case though.

Prices realized on ebay are better than their direct website.
    Looking for 77 cloth 9s and 10s.

LJB17 - I agree about the aesthetics of the wall units. Any extra 77 Rose cloths?

PSA sells those card "stands", but they are pricey. I found similar ones at a card store for .30 apiece. They do the job too.

Agreed on The Pennzoni. Actually, I think they are well worth the $. Three are already in use at my primary residence. I have one on either side of the Wall Unit/TV--'67 HOF'ers and 9's on the left, '68 HOF'ers on the right. The third is in the guest bedroom with Pre-1967 HOF'ers. A 4th Display will be going in with Post-1968 HOF'ers.

The best part is that when I travel to see my Dad, I bring him a new "starting 9" from a particular year to keep on his nightstand. image I have found out my Uncle and cousin always make it a point to stop by and check them out every month.
