If you have a chance go - great show and nice people. I met up with Paul and his girlfriend Jenni (nucklehead) as well as Morris (mnmcoin), John (Strat) Flash and MrLee. Morris and John have some really outstanding coins up for sale. Both had a toned Peace dollar that I'm still salvating about. Morris has some really monster toned coins, a/k/a Texas Bullion Trader level.

Thanks to everyone I met up with and I look forward to next month's Anaheim show.

I really enjoyed this show. While I had some trouble finding certain type-set coins I was looking for, I still had a great time chatting with fellow boardmembers Frattlaw, Nucklehead, MrLee, Strat, and M&M. I picked up 1982 and 1983 P&D Mint Souvenier Sets, a PCGS-slabbed MS64 Bridgeport half, and a similarly encased 1918 Lincoln half and 1865 3-cent nickel peice. I found that most of my attention.. and good portion of my money.. was spent checking out currency. I purchased a 1935-A "Hawaii" $1 Silver Certificate, a 1934-D $5 Silver Certificate, a 1928-G $2 note, and an 1899 $1 Silver Certificate ("Black Eagle"). Their were stacks of old redbooks and bluebooks in the lobby that they were giving away. I took a 1973 Redbook and a 1963 Bluebook. I spent alot more time there than I had expected I would.

What a Great Show. But then the Buena Park Show always is. Got to meet Frattlaw and mnmcoins. (It was a pleasure meeting both of you and I hope to see you again soon.) Thanks to Flash for the heads-up on the Red Books. Got a '66 and a '73. You should post a scan of the 1899 "Black Eagle." That is a tremendous looking note. I picked up a few proof Lincoln's, an 1853 half dime, and a MS-63 1904 Lib 5¢ from strat. Nucklehead, I'll let you tell us what Jenni got image
  • My girlfriend won a 1/10 Oz. AGE as the final prize of the day. I think she's starting to get the 'The coin collecting fever' from which we all know is incurible.I ended picking up today about nine Franklin halfs in various ms grades, all raw and very reasonably priced.

    Hello All,

This seems like a fine place for my first post!

I was also at the show, only for Saturday though. Since I missed the most recent Long Beach show I was pretty flush with cash (for me) and spent it all on a single coin: An 1834 Bust quarter in certified (PCGS of coarse!) in AU-53. Most of the mint luster remains, with just a little toning around the rims.

Buena Park is my favorite of the smaller shows, glad to hear most everyone's experiance was positive. Maybe when the next one rolls around I'll know some of you well enough to say "hello."

As many tickets that people kept handing Jenni it's no wonder she finally one. The odds were definitely in her favor! image

Welcome to the forum JamminJ! Yes, Buena Park is usually a pretty good show. Don't be afraid to speak up around here.

Welcome to the boards JamminJ. Maybe we can hook up at the North Anaheim show next month. Lots of us get together at that one too.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I wanted another shot at the $650 common chopmarked trade dollar I saw there last time. image I had my 2 1/2 year old with me, and I doubt she would have put up with much more coin shopping (I carried her as she slept through the close of a bidboard Saturday).

  • I would also like to add to this thread that I picked up a copy of a book called, Crime of 1873, The Comstock Connection, by Robert R. Van Ryzin. Very interesting book so far.

    Hi again,

Thanks to Flash and MrLee for their welcomes!

I have not been to the Anaheim show yet although I see the ad each month in Coin World. How well attended is that show?

I once went to a monthly show in the San Fernando Valley but it was kind of sad with just two dealers, one of which had mostly currency. I havn't been to a monthly show since. Perhaps it's just as well, I don't think I can afford a show each month!

  • JamminJ, a belated welcome from me also! The next Anaheim coin show is Sunday Nov.17 9:00am to 4:00pm The show is held at the Embassy Suites Hotel 3100 Frontera St. Anaheim. Free parking and free admission plus an hourly door prize drawing. This is a small show but is full of great local dealers (around 30). Hope to see you there and if you have any more questions feel free to e mail me at Lancer@iopener.net, hope I helped you out.
