Well - here's my 1000th post and I wanted to make it a good one - Mike - Oldcameoproofsguy has THE most fantastic 1949S prooflike half I've ever seen. It is truly awesome. He was kind enough to send me a nice pic of it because he knows I keep these to share with other collectors, so, in gratitude and in gratitude to all of you on the boards for all I've learned thus far - and for keeping me out of bars at night as I keep telling my wife - here's one awesome coin!

Thanks Frank for your kind words. You did a relly nice job of splicing the photos together. Thanks also for letting me in on some of the history behind the coin. It isn't easy to photograph because it looks like a "watery" proof with just a hint of cameo contrast on the devices.

Not many of these bad boys around - this one is a 66FBL to boot!

The theory on these very rare pieces is that some were made as presentation pieces to inaugurate minting in San Francisco in 1949. Extremely, extremely rare item!
