How was the St. Louis show??

Anybody go to this new show? Where you impressed? What did you buy?

I communicated with Bryan (TBT - Tonekiller) during the first couple of days and according to him the show was pretty slow. He said that there was very little retail or "public" attendance.

Since it's something of a new show, not having been held in a number of years, it may take a few years to really pick up steam. It was once a very good show.

I spoke with another dealer this evening who commented that the public attendance at this show was practically nil.

That's unfortunate since the promoters of this show were hoping that they could bring it back to its former glory days. This doesn't bode well since with such a lousy first show, I suspect that many of the major dealers will pass the next time around.

I agree with previous comments about the show being slow. I think it was a combination of low retail attendance and a lack of fresh material, partly due to tight grading by PCGS and NGC. I do feel, however, that most dealers who attended, ourselves included, will give this show a few more chances in the future. There was still business to be done there.

I attended the show and thought it was slow but I found a few coins I was looking for. There were a lot of toned dollars and proof type coins- the best part was meeting the dealers that don't usually come to the smaller shows held in St. Louis. I even met coinguy1 (hi Mark). Everyone was very up-beat but there wasn't that "buzz" in the air. Maybe because it's been awhile since a show was held downtown would explain the poor turn-out- I hope it's a yearly show because St. Louis really is a good location for a major coin show.

I found a Coin because of the Show and the closest I was to St Louis was here in Portland. Excelllent Show from My stand point as the 25D Merc thats been searched for has been located.
