Glad to hear all worked out well with coin. I love those DCAM Lincolns. Everyone should know from the previous thread that ONLY Certified coins should be bought there. He has a long history of refusing to provide a return privilege for raw coins. He is well known for using Cameo/DCAM/UCAM in his auction title and coin description, then when the buyer complains, saying something like if the coin would have made the Cameo/DCAM/UCAM grade, why would I have sold the coin on Ebay?
  • Here is a classic example of one of his raw coin auctions.

    DCAM Franklin

One must wonder.......if this coin is such a slamdunk PR-69 DCAM, why wouldn't someone that makes numerous submissions to PCGS each year send the coin to PCGS for a holder??? R&I Coins sells a PCGS PR-68 DCAM for $450 to $550.

I agree, why doesn't this cat submit this coin?

I don't know much about proof franks but the spots on the obv would keep it from going 68 woudn't they?

Those spots seem to disappear depending on the photo, but yes, if they are on the coin that would bump the grade down.

Its for all those people that buy coins and crack them out after they buy them so they are NOT in a slab. Remember if its in a slab its overpriced and overgraded and who would buy a coin in a slab to begin with. Heck I'll take Pepprecoins word for it that its a PF68 DCAM with no return.

If those spots are not on this coin it looks like a keeper to me, but the price is a tad high to take a chance on a raw coin for the HepKitty, but who knows, I may be blown away by this coin in person. The more I look at the photos I don't think the spots are actually on the coin. I sure could use this coin...

  • Thanks for the update. He has a coin now on ebay that I've been thinking about. It's slabbed and looks real nice.

My question to BigDave (and anyone else who's purchased from him lately), how does the actual coin compare to the picture. I emailed him a while ago, and he says he uses regular overhead lights in his pictures. Thanks

Darn I wanted to bid on a set of Wayte Raymond folders so I could experiment with toning a couple of rolls of '64 Kennedy Halfs and the only seller in all of eBay who had them up for sale was guess who! Well the need was greater than the risk and I bid on a set. I just hope he doesn't go on an early monthlong Christmas vacation before I receive them. image
