Generic coin images - Is this going too far?

It is common practice to use a generic coin image for an ebay seller and to include a disclaimer that the coin to be delivered is a different but similar coin. This is somewhat acceptable for a common coin like a generic modern commemorative, for example a 2002 West Point PR69DCAM etc.
This practice is now going one step further and I am not sure that I like it. I have been working on an Oregon Trail series [14 coins] and David Hall Rare Coins had a 1938-D MS67 that looked like it might fit in with the look I want. His online store wanted $875 for the coin and a nice image was available. The coin had been in inventory for a couple of months. A couple of weeks ago the coin and the same image appeared on eBay starting at $695. I was positive it was same coin because both images had a small pink spot above the A in DOLLAR. I was the only bidder and won the auction. The coin is in my possession.
Two days after winning the auction [prior to receiving the coin] I emailed the agent asking if there was a problem with my bid/payment since the coin was still shown in the online inventory. No response. The description of the coin in inventory and the image are the same as the auction coin. I think they are recycling the image on a different coin. The ebay auction started around the first of the month. Why would they leave my coin in inventory so long? Its still there.

The coin that I received has no toning spot and it is a beautiful coin. I am extremely happy with it, but I don't like the idea that the image presented may not be the coin I am buying on this type of purchase.
What's next a generic image of an 1877 MS66 Indian Head?
