I pulled it from an original roll and thought about the last one you aquired.Bull's eye tonning?.It's much nicer in hand and thought I would share.Al55-SCent

mnmcoin I have a cheep scanner, but a good software. photoshop gives you quite a few options on enhancement, brightness, color.I can get the color pretty close minus the luster?.It always looks better in hand.Al
You know how I can tell that is REAL vs AT? I know AT Lincolns are easy to fake with purple, but see how that 55-S has the purple color almost translucent on the coin? Like it's part of the skin of the cent. Now, AT purple (and the other colors, like blue and maroon) sit on TOP of the copper color and almost "coat" the coin.
I've had good luck distinguishing fake AT from real toning this way and your 1955-S is a perfect example of REAL toning.
I have found some gorgeous tones lincolns in original rools from the 30's. Its too bad they don't bring a premium and in fact detract from the value. 34-D seems to be a year that has gorgeous toned coins. I personally like the toned lincolns but the toning is hard to see inside a slab. You only get a good appreciation at angles.
Grip- I agree but some of that will depend on the toning source. After viewing lots of AT'ed Lincolns (and having that Dr.Dealer explain and show me the process) it becomes easier to spot the real ones! I'm glad PCGS knows the difference too, because so far, the ones I've sent them they've confirmed by slabbing.

Correct me if im wrong. The coin has to tone from the inside out.Not from the top, therfore giving it that blended look.Al
