has anyone found a type 2 cent?

I just finished looking through my hoard of cents.
I found 3 1998, 0 1999, and 2 2000 type 2s

this has made me happy, because I was batting zero for double dies
1972 0
1983 0
1984 0
1995 0

Now I can justify this hoard to my wife. I was wondering if any one else has looked.
and how they did? The 1999 does seem tougher.

I have had NO Luck with 1999 type 2, or even 1998 or 2000 with circulated cents. BUT, for error coins, I have found one 1998 broadstruck and 5 2000 broadstrikes and one 2000 mushroom cent, all with the type 2 reverse. The only reason I have those is beacause I have about 4,000 error cents that I bought from a guy in Miami and never sold them.
  • I've found about 15 2000's and 4 1998's. That was before the Redbook listed them. Haven't found anything lately.
  • The 2000 are a lot more common than the 1998. The 1999 are rare! These are the coin of the future.
Look at the 1858 flying eagle TY1 vs TY2, both about the same mintage. No difference in price. Look at the mintage of the 1998, 1999, 2000.
Billions minted, only one die possibly struck all ty 2 cents with the type 2 reverse. Maybe 1 in 100,000,000!
Now in the RED Book! That's a BIGGY!
Sooner or later, PCGS has to recognize the variety!
It is there! There are two different reverses for the 1998, 1999, and 2000!!!!!!
How long can you dispute it?
I have not found a single example. I live in the Dallas area and all we get here are Denver cents.
I envy those in the East, because it seems ALL the errors seem to come out of Philly.
Life is a drag looking at all the PERFECT Denver coins while Philly continues to strike ERRORS ON DEMAND!
Keep looking, THEY DO EXIST on the East Coast.

JoeJoe - There are a vast number of doubled dies you skipped right over if you were only looking for that short list of dates. With regard to the type II cents, I haven't ever found a single one. Where I live only Denver mint cents circulate. Just finding a P mint 1998-2000 cent is a chore.

just look at one of Ken Potter's auctions, like this one for a 1998 "Wide AM" variety. Hope I don't have to end up paying that kind of money for one, but I've found none in change so far.
