Just looked at my ICG slabs

A couple years ago when I got back into coin collecting, I assumed a slab was a slab, and I purchased 9 ICG coins (8 MS-64 Morgans and an MS-65 Frankie). After joining this forum I learned how to shop smarter, how to grade coins, and most importantly, that a slab was NOT a slab... Any who, I dug out the old ICG slabs tonight, and I'm happy to say that they all look very solid for the grade. It had been a while since I looked at them, and I was expecting the worst. Just thought I would share. image

  • Good deal Jeff:

I'd say at one point ICG was very competent - they seem to have gone down hill in the last year or so. Sounds like you got some of the good ones!

    Congrats!

I, and I think most people here feel that they are not so bad with classic coins- it's the moderns that they just can't grade because of all the 70s they hand out. Through the years they have gotten worse, so an older slab of a classic may very well be solid.
