Does PCGS certify

Does PCGS certify garbage that is minted at those unofficial (not the US mint) mints that restrike valuable coins and try to sell them to the unwary on television. I just saw a commercial where one of those mints were selling replica $20 gold pieces and across the bottom of the TV screen it said "certified by PCGS". The coins they showed on TV were in holders but not official PCGS holders. Is it possible that they are referring to another PCGS? Sounds like a painful trap for unknowledgeable new collectors.image

PCGS won't slab those but SEGS (depending) and, in some cases, ICG will. PCI recently changed there policy, midstream, and won't any longer either. I found out after sending them a batch. They returned them all (Gallery Mint stuff) with a full refund stating they no longer deal in grading replicas.

Global Certification will too but their grading is kind of expensive.

Added comment: PCGS WILL grade those "coins" from Liberia (Liberdad's) and other Countries.
It is the Replica stuff (like that replica 1933 Saint that is going around) they stay away from.

They state they are legal tender for $10. on the coin itself.
They are also not exact copies as the reverses are not the same.

Admittingly, although I don't own one, I kind of like the "Trade Dollar" design, especially the reverse.
They usually sell for between $40. and $45.00 on eBay (PCGS PR69) when they turn up.
