enjoying your coins or chasing them down?

where is the greater satisfaction? I thought it was the chase until last night when I was looking at a collection of mine after a long, long day. Thoughts?

The chase can be very frustrating at times! But the hunt is an enjoyable part of the game but I do get greater satisfaction from the appreciation of the coins I have.

I enjoy trying to find the coins, once you own them they just don't seem to be really interesting anymore, (you always want what you can't have) I am thinking about selling off my whole collection and starting over.

I enjoy the hunt and the kill more than the trophy. Time to sell some, and go hunting again.

i think i enjoy "both sides of the coin" equally. right now my funds are tapped out due to a recent binge and some major remodeling that i did to my home. i have to play it close to the vest for a while so i figure to focus on some raw stuff for submissions to fill in some holes and i've been organizing what i have and deciding what i can part with----it is sweet sorrow----and where to upgrade. i went and bought some of the eagle albums for certified coins cause i like the way the display each coin in a set together. looking through all the boxes finally got to me but at the same time i sit here and wonder what coins i could have bought with that album money!!!! am i too far gone or what?!?!?!?

For me it had better be the appreciation of what I have because I don't frequently have the funds necessary to engage in the hunt.

both have their appeal. Finding seems to be the most exciting, but picking up a folder full of beautiful coins and seeing them all at once makes me feel proud and brings a sense of accomplishment.

I started to sell my core set of Barber halves and found myself wandering aimlessly around the house, food lost its taste, life seemed meaningless. When I started to buy again and promised I would forever keep my beauties, life again seemed so full of promise!!

The hunt for more and better coins. I do not mind trading in several for one or two better examples. Having and holding is great until the chance to improve a favorite set (Morgans raw &/or PCGS) comes along.

It was not too long ago that I ransacked a complete AU/BU Peace dollar set for a handlfull of nice Morgans.

Local coin shows this weekend and next. Hope that I have enough dry powder for any new finds I come across.
