Grading common coins?

I have a stack of silver dollars, all common dates (1883-o, 1884-o, 1880, 1921M, 22,23,24 peace and others) and was wondering if it was worth the money to have these graded. They would all come out in the MS60-63 range, whic would place them around $25 in value. Also, they would be graded by ANACS since I couldn't even possibly afford PCGS or NGC for these, I save that money for good stuff.

whadda ya think?

Save your money for rare coins. The amount you will spend to certify maybe you could buy a nice cert ms65 or two.

  • Agreed - save your money - unless there's something unusual about these you're better off just stashing them away in a nice holder and being done with it.

I can't see anything to be gained by spending money to slab those coins. There's nothing wrong with the coins, of course, it's just economics.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

ANACS has a silver dollar 9-9-9 special running until Nov 4th I was thinking of availing myself of.

I was thinking the same thing for some of my favorite commons, but I noticed similar slabbed examples on ebay going for alot less than I would have put into each coin & decided if I want one slabbed, I would just purchase another already slabbed. I don't collect real expensive coins, but I enjoy having a slabbed example of some of my favorites.
  • That was kinda my thinking - commons like these would cost me $99 plus shipping undser the 9-9-9 special. For that money, I can buy gold that I'm more interested in (!/4 and 1/10 bullion costs the same as grading these 11 coins). Maybe I can sell these raw and avail myself of these all together and add to my gold bug needs.
