I was thinking the exact same thing, and I didn't read your post; I just clicked on the link when I opened up the thread. That is an awesome effect. Not sure what the premium would be for a coin like this. It's great to look at, but too rich for me.

Are toned Franklins really that rare? This coin, which has much more vibrant blues and oranges than the image, was an ebay special. At risk of hearing the guffaws from fellow board members, I suspect it is as attractive as anaconda's coin.

I have seen lots of toned Franklins... And have found very few that I like, this one is the nicest I've seen, its a shame that the coin is not a ms66fbl........But then this cat would ask even more $$$$$$.

Actually, I am more or less serious -- I think if I were good with a digital camera my image would look as nice as anacondas. I would need to see his in person to judge. Irishmike -- from your images, the 1963 looks incredibly nice, the toning on the '57 a bit too broken to be a competitor.

PS -- everyone values things in different ways. Personally, I would never pay more than a few hundred dollars for a nicely toned Franklin.

Lucy had a dream that she stuck some of her raw Frankies in with her potted plants so they would tone. I supposedly left them in 'the pot" for several months of regular waterings...But then I woke up. Rats! I wonder if I would have slept longer what kinda of toning I would have gotten.. Why I dreamed this who knows, I usually dream of Elvis in 1956!
