fantastic gem DMPL morgan .........photo is up!!

currently this 1888-o morgan makes its home in a green tag pcgs ms65 DMPL holder
this coin is a 66 on the reverse and a 65.99/66 obverse.

this coin is 100% fully!! struck!! and the eye appeal of this coin is nothing short of AMAZING SUPER FANTASTIC!!

i do not know what the couple of 66 DMPL coins look like but this coin could be on par with those two graded 66DMPL, easy.

the coin has super really super ultra deep mirrors on both sides of the coin and deeply cameoed on both sides also! usually 88-o dollars come with many many little ticks on the obverse and this coin is a rare exception with only some slight ticks below the E in e pluribus unum keeping this coin from a 66 grade!! there is light russet toning on the rims going to ultra light to the centers of both sides.

the photos really do no justice to this coin it must be sight seen and to an inexperienced eye will look like a proof on the obverse at first glance

the obverse is MONSTER DEEPLY MIRRORED AND MONSTER CAMEOED!! and without the deeply mirrored surfaces that largely magnify some small ticks on the obverse this coin would be a 66++/67 easy. as the cheek is really clean.

this coin resides in an eastern collection and has been personally examined by me and the obove opinions are my own. this coin is currently not for sale nor has it been sold nor is it being considered for sale. the coin is posted on here to show what a really great rare DMPL dollar looks like with the following commentary by myself which explains the photograph of the coin. so that some might better understand DMPL dollars and maybe might give them some more information to make better decsisons on buying coins for their own collections!

sincerely michael

Hey you're posting my kind of coin now! That is really cool! I know how DMPLs are so I can't say much bad about the field marks. Nice strike too. I don't know if I see a shot 67 but since it's an O mint maybe.
As long as the tone is original and dip retone I like it.

hi there guys thanks for the great comments!

thanks dog! i see you are a dmpl enthueist also!! i love the o mints in dmpl really undervalued and underapprecaited and sleepers!!!

for me this coin would be a 67 if not for the dmpl surfaces the tiny ticks are magnifyed with the dmpl surfaces so that is what i meant by saying this coin would possibly be a 66++/67 coin if the coin was just a regular business strike coin with no hint of prooflike surfaces

    sorry for the confusion

    sincerely michael

Oh yeah, I always been a DMPL guy.
You know why they are undervalued and underapprecaited and sleepers?
Because there are not any out there to be valued and appreciated!
Sure you see some shiny scuffed up spotted ones on eBay, Teletrade and in the coin rags but when was the last time you saw a REAL DMPL that hadn't been dipped, didn't have hazy mirrors or even had much mirror, didn't have broken frost or few marks?
You don't! They are all stashed away in private collections in strong hands that don't ever sell them.
Sure Laura Legend has a few truly nice ones from time to time and most collectors say they are OVERVALUED because like true monsters they sell for WAAAYY over bid. Who gets a true DMPL at greysheet bid? Like you say, lol lol lol
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Well I think you know Michael that I like dmpl dollars. I must admit for 65 that cheek is too clean. And I understand on dmpl how any hits stand out like a sore thumb. But the few it has shouldn't have held it back any.

Sure is funny how we always say if it wasn't for this or that it would grade higher.image

Nice coin and this one I would say is much better than 65.

goyankeez and itsforreal for the great post! and stman it is a shame that tihs coin is not 66 but it is sooooooooooo close to 66 and in many respects it is 66 but i think that this coin is not worth real 66 money but i think this coin is worth at least three times retail 65 money but i guess it doesnot work that way

well i think that if this coin ever is sold on the bourse someone will buy it and try it for a 66 many times and they might succeed!

dog you are very astute with dmpl i sss amyn are hazy and cloudy and ugly and all the best ones or most of them the rarer dates/mintmarks or a combo thereof are inpounded in collections to find one like this for sale that is a much better date mintmark and looking like this with no hazy and super clean clear mirrors is rare

yes a coin like this is worth much much more than greysheet but try to explain that to the uneducated buyers/lots of dealers also first thing they do is look at the sheet and offer ten back of bid on top of not knowing what they are looking at.............lol exactely dog they are not apprecaited nor do most understand or know waht they are looking at!!!!!!!

dog you are really knowledgable in your posts about the dmpl's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wild now you are bettewr than the coin well everyone on here is bettewr than the coin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!but dog you get a little extra cherrie on top ........lol yes yes

By your description, I can imagine the coin in my head and you are correct, the image doesn;t capture the mirrors... looks clean and it does look like it has enough field chatter commensurate with the grade, great coin though and a good date.
