According to the PCGS Price Guide, a regular 1885 MS-64 goes for $43.
  • Don't forget it's also a DMPL.

Yeah, I know, but it's still a common date.
  • The heck with stroking egos - I just think the coins are amazing - wouldn't pay what he's asking for them, but you have to admit they're really pretty to look at!
  • i ran across a dealer (friend) at a show this weekend that was selling his colored coins in two different show cases. the first had pcgs and ngc common dates with great colors (a coin similar to the anaconda auction - without the dmpl designation - would have been priced at about $175. and up) and the second case had all the coins that he a.t.'d that got bounced back to him from pcgs and ngc. those were priced much lower. i suggested he resumitt. he replied that he does resubmitt them and gets some holdered after 2-3-4 money offering to the 'certifiers of originality'. if those colored coins interest you folks so much, why don't any of you take that dealer's lead and do them yourselves and save the $$$ for something else?

p.s. lucy nailed this one - YAWN!

Because this is the kind of crap that gives the hobby a bad name and ultimately makes the entire industry suffer.

  • That looks EXACTLY like a coin I seen at the Central States show last year which was priced at $1700 but I passed because it just did not look very nice because of the splotchiness of the toning not to mention the price.

I prefer my DMPLs white but if they are toned they should be toned all the way not a splotchy ½ toned job. The toned ¼ under Liberty's chin is pretty & the DMPL upper ½ is pretty but on the same coin .......I don't know.......
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
