This is a tip o' the cap to a certain "Larry X", who enclosed with his payment for some lots from ebay, a box of Kellogg's Frosty Flakes for me to keep up my strength in the noble fight against the neo-reactionary revisionist forces that insist upon calling the 70 set a "modern set".
In addition, beneath his signature was the notation, "Proud to be a member of the "Vintage Kellogg's Koalition"
Such a spontaneous display of loyalty can only spell the eventual doom for the forces of the Dark Side.

Those Kellogg's Frosted Flakes are the MRE's (thats "Meals Ready to Eat" for you civilians) used in the war against Kellogg's Vintage versus Evil Modern.
But yes, of course it would be great to register 7's, 8's, 9's. Only PSA 5's and 3's (Like a shameful collector recently registered) should be burned.
I have one card - Pete Rose of course - but this is a set I could finish with less finances than I thought. Definitely a cool set.
So who the leaders (in order and rank) of this Koalition?
But it's not a Kult. It's a Klub.
Since you are new to this set, don't let yourself be brainwashed by those who think that this is a vintage set.
Either collect it in 5 or less--giving it the respect it truly deserves--or 9 or better as finding 9s is like finding 6s for other sets.
Also there is a substantial movement afoot from vintage collectors who are trult offended that Gemmintman and Zardoz have proclaimed this a "vintage" set. These collectors have appointed me their representative and are doing their best to send all their psa 10s to me to dethrown the gemmintman with the mission of returning Kelloggs to its prior status--alongside the classic modern sets of KMart and Toys R Us.
And if gemmint responds with his yawn, ask him about the pop 1 psa 10s he has been losing lately.

Vic - I just acquired FOUR new ONE of ONEs so I think you are behind in this quest of yours. Keep trying though. I admire your effort even if it is a lost cause .
Check the '70 Kellogg's Registry today and in a few days for GPA upward revisions for thegemmintman!!
Ooooh, that one hurt. Will have to call a meeting of the Board of Directors of the anti-Kellogg's coalition to see how those four eluded us--heads will roll!

and is hereby written in stone! If Hank Aaron and/or Willie Mays appeared in the set, IT IS VINTAGE.
As all 1970 Kellogg's collectors are well aware, card #12 depicts Willie Mays ready to swing.
Murcerfan, you forgot the critical part of the equation- They must be shown with either the Milwaukee Braves or NY Giants to be considered vintage! By your recent bidding pattern on this set I see you too, like an increasing number of us. have fallen victim to the spell of the Koolaid rocker. Beware children, if it happened to us it can happen to you!
I predict it won't be long before Drivers Ed classes will be forced to show the documentary "Kelloggs Madness"
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
In card collecting, I don't believe the definition of vintage is subject to constant change. By your definition, all the mass-produced cards of the 1980s become vintage.
The definition most vintage collectors use is a cutoff in the late 50s with the classic pre-war sets, the early bowman sets and the first few topps sets being classified vintage sets.
The sets from 1959-1969 and possibly 1970 and 1971 Topps would be semi-vintage sets. Anything after is abundant in high grade and would be classified as modern. The 1970 Kellogg's set is extremely plentiful in psa 9 and along with its peers the late 1980s Kmart and toys r us sets would be referred to as modern. Don't let the kool-aid boys tell you differently.

It was expected that the spawn of Satan would attempt to confuse the issue with some convoluted, rambling spiel that would only make sense to the local village idiot and members of the "Greens Party"
Allow me to be so bold as to question your statement that the 1971 is a "semi-vintage" set. The term "semi-vintage".....is that the same as a girl being semi-pregnant?
It all merely gets back to my theory that the 1970 set would be considered "Modern" by any individual who got started collecting cards as a result of their four pack a day Piedmont cigarette habit and their glutenous consumption of Plow's candy.
I will have to buy from "Larry X" more often from now on.
