Dog, I would've tried to snipe it but I had a last minute panic as to whether I changed my password two weeks ago and whether that would've changed the bid info! Also using that word is certainly not in vogue this week considering recent news events
<< <i>Are they suppose to get 8 gifts for Hannuckah?. If so and they are all numismatic, then perhaps I should convert. lol. /just joking. Brian. >>
Some people do one gift per night (there are 8 nights in the holiday)...
Then there's the way I do it--- pile them all on the first night! (except for family members whom I see at my grandparent's dinner, in which case I might have to wait just a little bit ) Of course, the USPS doesn't help in delivering me checks
Yep, super early this year. The Jewish calendar adds a lunar month this year(7 times out of every 19 years-there is an exact formula). The lunar month 29 or 30 days produces a regular year of 354 days and a full year of 383 days. All this produces a solar-lunar calendar that allows the festivals to be kept in their proper season(unlike the Muslim calendar(lunar only) where Ramadan, as example floats all over the Julian calendar.
The long-standing joke is that a Jewish holiday is late or early but never on time!
BTW the price guides are all over the place on this coin. In MS-65, PCGS gives $40-, Numismatic News gives $15- and Coins gives $15-. I bought it for eye-appeal and the idea that Washington quarters still haven't stopped taking off. Any comments on the wide fluctuation?
First of all let me say that the set should make for a very memorable gift - good job dad!
As for the price fluctuations, I'd say the main culprit here is the fact that this is a modern coin with a mintage of over 704 billion. I would imagine that it's hard to peg the coin's true value due to the unknown quantities of gems out there, the quality of those coins, and the potential demand. Sometimes it seems as though prices are assigned as bell-weathers, and then when the market truly determines what the price is based on demand then they tend to stabilize.

The day after Thanksgiving... talk about a short shopping season! (and yes, that is a month before Christmas
I don't know much about silver or quarters, but it sure has nice eye appeal. Congratulations to finder, and son.
