The boss/did I do the right thing

As some of you may remember about two weeks ago I posted a thread titled "I may of got the boss hooked." It was how my boss, who I have known for eight years, but have only been working for for four monthes, started talking about how he liked to metal detect. We then started talking about all the coins he's found over the years. I then told him of my passion for coins. He mentioned that at some point he would like to own a St Gauden's. Well yesterday that Staint arrived in my mail box and today he came and picked it up. I also showed him some of my collection. Yesterday I went over his house after work and looked at what he had.I know the golden rule is you tell nobody about your coins. I feel he is the type of person that can be trusted and he is in a position that requires alot of trust at work. I have not shown him everything I have, but he knows that I have some quality stuff. I would just like to know how everyone feels about this. Should I have told him, or should I have just kept my mouth shut. My ultimate goal would be for him to take more of a collector/investor interest in coins and I have lent him many books to help get him started. I have told him to please tell no one. His wife was at home at the time and I don't even think she knew what we were looking at because we were looking at his stuff too.

the ones that I really trust because I never know if they are going to go blab to somebody else
about thier 'friend' who has an amazing collection. That's where the problem comes in - it's not
your friends, its who ever they tell (and so on).
edited to fix grammer and spelling (my fingers are on strike today! )

But now that he works for me if I tell him he might think I have money and want to be paid more. So now when he asks how much is it worth, I tell him Nothing To You.!!!!!!
The main people I don't tell I collect is people that live around me.
As others have said they may tell their friends than that can end up being trouble.

Sounds like you and your boss have struck a good rapport, so I would say that you're on safe footing. Think of it this way - if anything were to happen, the reprocussions would hit both at home and at work - too much for anyone to lose. I agree with the concensus that you should feel good about sharing your hobby with your close friends, and of course at the same time, take necessary precautions to keep your collectibles safe.
