1986 A.S.E. PCI MS-70?

Has anyone seen the Coin World ad by Chattanooga Coins for this? They have a story of a U.S. Mint green monster box being submitted to PCI for grading and only a handful came back MS-70. image

What would a PCGS grade be for this PCI certification of MS-70? I just sent off a 1986 and 1987 A.S.E. in MS condition for grading and can't wait to see the results.

    Probably a 66-68... with a 68 being lucky.

  • PCGS has only graded 12 MS70 Silver Eagles in all 17 dates combined, with NO 2002's grading MS70 out of 4427 coins submitted. Happy hunting image

I saw that HYPE. I'm surprised PCI didn't grade the entire box as 70's!

  • I agree with Airplanenut, that one would be lucky to get a MS68 out of a PCI MS70.

Wasn't that ad talking about 1986 ASEs?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Kranky,

You are absolutely right! I should have said "1986" instead of "2002". My apologies for the error. Uh, because it's an error, is it worth something? image
