Registry Idea Regarding Which Sets Are Pedigree Eligible

I have a suggestion for PCGS. On the ranking page of each registry set, add a statement on pedigree eligibility of the set. This could be simply "Pedigree Eligible" for sets already eligible, "Pedigree Eligible: DATE" for sets with planned dates, and "Pedigree Eligible: TBD".

I waited a long time for the 1950 to present sets to come eligible. I maintained a position in the Top 5 for a LONG time, but now I'm down to number 8 as I've been focussed on earlier type coins vs MS67 copper memorials.

I am toying with the idea of haveing my(1936-1958)Lincoln Proof Registry Set pedigreed.I've slipped to #5 recently, because I'm not complete.I plan to change that at the Baltimore Coin Show.I have a NGC Lincoln I'm planning to cross over to PCGS.As most of you can see from the photos on my Registry Set,the holders are in sad shape. If for no other reason,I will get new holders out of the deal for free.I don't think my collection is anything special but to me.

Don, your collection is very NICE!!!!!

    GO FOR THE PEDIGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think if you do the pedigree that you can get the 1954 graded for free somehow......but you might have to crack it out!

    good idea Brian!

    Don:

I agree with goose3--pedigree that set!! (Or, perhaps I should keep with the slang used on the PCGS boards by saying that "I concur with goose3".)

    Brian:

I also agree (concur) with your suggestion for PCGS.

3.Free Grading. We recognize that not every coin in every
important collection has been graded by PCGS. In order to
encourage participation in the PCGS Set Registry program we
are offering the following free grading benefits for sets that
    reach 90% completion:

If the set composition is 1-9 coins you are entitled
    to 1 free grading.
If the set composition is 10-24 coins you are
    entitled to 2 free gradings.

Free gradings are for coins within the set that has reached 90%
completion. All coins must be submitted at one time. If your set
has reached 90% complete and you have not previously
received free grading for this set, please contact
setregistry@collectors.com for an authorization code. No free
gradings will be permitted without this authorization code, so be
sure to write the number down on the top of your submission
form. These free submissions are for coins within your set that
are either "raw" or graded by another grading service that you
    would like to "crossover."

I have a questionimage....If you were in #5 last week and sliped to #6 can you still get your set pedigreed?Or must you do it while your in #5?.
    Thanks Al

Don't think so Al. I slipped to #5 on my FE set and decided to send it in. I had to print out the page that shows me at #5 and include with my package to PCGS.

Excellent idea Brian. I poked around and couldn't find much information on which sets could be
    pedigree labeled.

I decided to send them some email to let them know that we still waiting for some of the modern sets.

Thanks for bringing up the issue.

Since we were talking about which set were eligible for pedigree I decided to write PCGS and
see what they said about my MS Ike set. Here is the response:

    >Mr. Hayse,
    >
    >If your set is in the top 5 in can be pedigreed now. Just print out the web page showing your set listed in the top 5 >current finest and note on the invoice the title you want for your pedigree.
    >
    >Please contact me if you have any further questions.

image Is this news or has someone already got the pedigree on their Ikes?

Seeing you are tied for number 5, it would be a good time to do it now!

I have a question.I went to the benefit page for the Registry Sets, after goose3 pointed out I am entitled to a free grade or cross over.I read that if your set is 100% your entitled to (5) grades.I was wondering if it would include (2) regrades since mine are 94% graded? Any body know the answer to this one.Maybe BJ will answer.
