I have a coin that is in a slab and i'm thinking about selling it. It's in a NGC slab and i want to ship it insured but i don't know how much it costs?
It depends on shipping method and packaging. For single slabs, I ship First Class, insured in a Safe-T-Mailer and bubble mailer. If it's $50 or less, postage comes to $2.13.
Where can you buy a safe-t-mailer? Also the coin I'm selling is a 1829/1827 Bust Half in VF-25 I'm guessing it's about a $100.00 coin does that change the shipping cost?
mb - As anyone who has bought a single slab from me knows, here's how I pack/ship. I print a record of the sale or payment, (Cut out the address if there)fold it in half, then fold it around the slab. Next a wrap the slab in a cushioning material. I have a large stock of the sheet styrofoam furniture is wrapped in when it is shipped. Tape or rubber band together. Next I take a 6x9 kraft (heavy yellow paper) envelope, fold it in half to get a good crease, then put the wrapped coin in. Fold it at the crease, tape cut out address on. Add return address. Securely tape closed. Write insurance amount in upper right corner (in case you can't remember when you get to the PO).
This will be about 80 cents postage. Insurace is $1.30 for the first $50, $.90 for the next $50. Ship first class.
Also, write FRAGILE in huge, red letters on both sides of the envelope... if nothing else, it releases frustration at the PO from the last time they messed up your shipment...

$50 insurance is only $1.10, not $1.30

You're a little behind the times.
