Lets not be too hard on the coin. We should take into account what the engraver had to work with. From that portrait, poor old Queen Anne was not quite what one would call "a looker" was she?

Haven't you seen one of those drooling pug dogs that has such an ugly face that you end up just loving it because it is so damn ugly. They become cute because they are so ugly.

Ugly british coins can be quite loveable for that reason.

Nope. In the old Britith system, 4 Farthings made a penny, twelve pennies a shilling, and twenty shilling a pound. A farthing was not a lot of money at all!
