GAI=PSA

I recently cracked 14 GAI cards out of there holders and sent them to PSA. Out of the 14 cards, I had 4 cards upgrade and 1 downgrade. Seems to me that GAI is a bit tougher on vintage cards. I also dont want to say PSA is easy, because there not. I thought all 14 should of been in 9 holders, but I'll take 9 out of 14. So I think PSA was still very tough.

    For what it's worth, I think that GAI is a little too lax on its 1955 Bowman grading -- I think that a lot of these type standards are very issue-dependent.

    Glad you got some upgrades from GAI. Hope it works out well with your set.

    PSA is currently tougher than GAI on '52 topps.
    however, PSA seems very (too) tough on '52's right now.
  • Bob,

    Were the 14 cards you sent in random 8's, or did you think they were high end? In other words, PSA might not grade easier. You may have been able to send the same high end cards back to GAi and gotten upgrades. Many times I have sent high end PSA cards back to PSA and have gotten upgrades. So it could be GAI is tougher, or it could be that these were all borderline cards. If you sent in 14 PSA 9's from GAI to PSA, you are much more likely to get downgrades than upgrades, I am sure.
