Crossovers and Pop Reports

Hi

My question is what happens to Pop reports when let's say someone takes a card out of a BGS holder and gets that card graded by PSA, SGC or whoever. The BGS Pop reports would not be accurate because that card is no longer in a BGS holder but now in another grading company's holder. Should BGS (or substitute whatever grading company) be informed to more accurately reflect the "real" Population or not. Or is the real reason for a Pop report to just say, "Hey we graded A card at this grade at one particular time and it doesn't matter if card is in holder or not now." It seems if that is the case, there could be duplication in Pop reports among graders.

This issue may have already been discussed, if so, sorry.

This is true. After 10 years -- the pop reports are somewhat misleading.

Some examples are very close to accurate -- some are not.

Vintage PSA 10 populations -- should be 99+% accurate.

1955 Bowman Hoyt Wilhelm PSA 8's Population (rare Number 1 card with no PSA 9's) -- PSA 8 population is very misleading.

Star cards -- PSA 7/8 populations can be very misleading -- whereas the PSA 9 populations should be close to accurate.

For the record -- it does not seem like any of the major grading companies correct their databases even if you send back the labels, etc.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I have, and continue to, turn in flips from cracking/resubmitting.
You are generally hurting yourself and your card's value if you don't; in most cases.
I have seen cards taken off before, but the last batch I turned in are on week #2 with no subtraction.
I was even promised a few free grades once while turning some in at a show, indicating that PSA encourages this.

Of course the free grades never happened.
