Mastronet's 65 set

It's gone. I just looked at the registry this morning and his whole set is gone from the list. Does anyone know what happened?

  • I guess I mean it's still there but part of it is gone. Maybe the registry is just messed up.

Somethings up w/ the '65 files. Yesterday, I added a couple of cards to my set that was sitting at 71%, after adding them, my completion total went to 36%, w/ lots of cards ommited. I contacted Gayle and it was taken care of within 2 minutes of my Email, but something may be up on the '65's. Probably a conspiracy from the evil 1970 Kellogg's collectors,
they will damage all files except of course the 1970 Kellogg's image ...jay

  • There are no '65s. They're being held in cyberspace for ransom by an Al-Quida cell holed up somewhere in the mountains of Oregon. No doubt subject to torture, biological and chemical weapon testing. No one will want them when they're finally found. So everyone, DELETE YOUR SETS NOW!!!

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    Anything you say, "mike"!

This drop by Mastro in the '65 Topps Regsitry ranking does not appear to be a computer glitch. This is quite interesting. I spoke to Louis Bollman of Mastro at the 2002 National. He bought a significant amount of '65 PSA 8's and 9's from me earlier in the year and I asked Louis if this set was being put together for the sake of auctioning it off in a later Mastro Auction. He told me, "No. This set is for Bill Mastro himself. He collected '65s as a child and it was his favorite set from that era. He has no plans to sell it unless someone makes him an offer he can't refuse". So this is an interesting turn of events.

Congratulations to Wayne Ellis for regaining the top spot in the '65 Registry!
  • Dan,

I believe that Louis purchased a large group of zeder's cards and just deleted them from the set only to upgrade them very soon. He is probably upgrading about 85 cards so that should really help his set. It will be interesting to see who eventually ends up with the top 1965 set with Louis and Skipm going pretty hard after the 9's. I'm just a small fish waiting for their scraps.
